Muskoka Autumn Studio Tour – Continues Sept 29 & 30, 10am to 6pm.
Among my top favourite Muskoka art events are the Spring and Fall Studio tours. There are a number of tours but I think this one might be the largest. I almost missed telling you about it in time because the Muskoka Autumn Studio Tour is going on right now.
These weekend tours allow visitors to visit the studios of local artists, interact with them and see exhibits of their latest works. The artists taking part this year include painters, potters, wood carvers, stained glass and fabric artists, metal smiths and photographers.
The studios are spread out, some in clusters, from Gravenhurst up to Huntsville. Print a map from their website and plan your route. One year we made a loop around LakeMuskoka taking in the studios in Gravenhurst, Bala, Port Carling and Bracebridge. Another time we spent the entire day on Limberlost Road.
Though many of the artists open their studios by appointment year round, twice a year they really put on a show. Couple that with being able to enjoy the fall colours, and you have the makings of a fine weekend outing.
